‘Tis a shocking statement, I know, but true. Over Labor Day weekend, The Write Crowd’s own J. Patrick Lemarr took place in the 3 Day Novel Contest, a Canadian literary experiment celebrating its 31st year. Lemarr talks about the 72 hours of little sleep and lots of typing over at The Insomniac Writer.
I spent some time digging around other blogs, reading the stories of those that participated in this year’s contest. Some completed their quest for a finished novel - others did not. The common ground, however, amid the different blogs was that almost every writer worked on a story that they feared they would never write if they didn’t just stop everything - and write it.
That’s always the trick, isn’t it? Folks, write. Write while the idea is fresh. Write because you don’t know what tomorrow holds. Write - because you’re a writer. Books don’t write themselves. They need committed writers to help them make the journey from fuzzy ideas to ink and paper.
