Welcome all to the inaugural post of “The Insomniac Writer,” the journey of this weary soul through the rigors of writing, rewriting, revising and (hopefully) publication.

This blog is just one of many features here at www.thewritecrowd.com. My good friend and fellow author, D. Gene Strother, also has a blog here, and I can tell you from experience that Gene is a unique voice. I feel privileged to share this little plot of the world wide web with him, and hope that the two of us make coming here worth your while.

The Write Crowd also offers a message board where fellow writers can critique each other’s work, offer advice, share poetry or even challenge each other with writing prompts. From time to time, we’ll run an official TWC Writing Contest with prizes and bragging rights for the winners. The purpose of the board (www.thewritecrowd.com/theboard/) is to give our fellow authors (and you know who you are!) a place to share, to laugh, to serve and to grow.

Last, but certainly not least, you’ll soon see us posting podcasts with helpful hints, insightful websites, interviews and even book reviews. Hear straight from your fellow authors what worked for them (and what didn’t,) as well as insight into the process of writing.

 As for this blog, it will be my story. I will take you through the ups and downs of being an amateur writer making his bid for the big time. I hope that as I learn and grow that you will learn and grow with me. I also hope that as I share honestly about my mistakes and missteps it will afford you the opportunity to avoid making the same. That’s it. Sounds simple. Join me for the journey. I promise… it’ll be one heck of a ride.
