Working Title: 365
By J. Patrick Lemarr on Jan 1, 2009 in Poetry, Rant, The Journey
So the new year brings with it the opportunity to start a fresh project. This, of course, does not mean I won’t be writing and editing other projects, but I wanted a daily project to keep me working on a schedule.
The project is simple, really. For an entire year (January 1, 2009 – December 31, 2009), I plan to write something every day. It could be a poem, a song, a short story – anything that springs to mind. Each day, I will post my work like a journal, leaving each piece as is (as in, without the benefits of editing), good or bad, laughable or inspiring. It will be, put simply, a raw look into my writer brain.
Why am I doing this? It’s a challenge. Plus, when all is said and done, I would like to compile that year’s worth of work into something book-like. We’ll see.
In the meantime, sit back and relax. Check back daily to catch the updates – and enjoy my first entry, found below.

Born devoid of passion’s fire
Of napalm lust
And fury’s pyre
Birthed dead weight, an icy stone
With Freon blood
And glacial bone
Born an orphan of your grace
Your martyr’s hearth
And homeless face
Birthed in skin that fell with Eve
Your bonfire hope
My sole reprieve
