Nothing But Questions
With Turkey Day behind us, and me too lazy to edit my next podcast, I turn my thoughts back to my writing. Revisions are completed for Worlds Apart, and my first novel is now in the hands of the trusted few who will check it for any plotholes, logic errors… and basically anything I may have missed in the revision process. The question is- what do I do next?
Write, that’s what. See, I’m the kind of guy that can get myself into trouble if I rest on my laurels too much. Plus, I’m not a small man, so it tends to hurt my laurels. I need to jump feet first into my next gig. If I don’t then I may find myself two years down the road without having written anything of substance. It’s far too easy to let life intrude on the process.
So that question - what to do next - haunts me. Worlds Apart is a fantasy novel written for young adults. Do I write a sequel? Do I write something completely different to show my range? (How frelling Hollywood was THAT sentence?) Do I focus on short fiction while I wait to see how the novel does or start directly on something full-length?
These are the questions keeping me up tonight. I’m open to suggestions.
